The Beautiful Light of Yumn: A Love That Transcends
"In every gentle glance, Yumn spoke / \ a language only the heart could understand."
There are some animals that enter your life as pets, and then there are those rare, beautiful souls that arrive as a blessing. Yumn was the latter. This month, as we fulfilled the sacred tradition of Qurbani, a part of my heart went with him. But what remains is a tapestry of memories woven with pure love, immense grace, and an unforgettable spirit.
A Portrait of Pure Elegance
To look at Yumn was to look at a masterpiece of nature. He possessed a pristine, snow-white coat that seemed to catch the morning light and glow from within. He was a proud Sojat, carrying himself with an innate, almost regal stature.
His most defining features were his ears—long, leafy, and incredibly soft, framing a face that was the very definition of innocence. He had a beautifully soft, curved profile and large, expressive almond eyes that held a deep, liquid warmth. Around his neck, he wore a vibrant pink, hand-braided collar, a symbol of how deeply cherished he was in our home.
Gentle Grace and Quiet Mannerisms
Yumn’s beauty wasn’t just skin-deep; it was defined by his beautiful temperament. Unlike the chaotic energy of a typical barnyard, Yumn moved with a rhythmic, quiet poise.
He had a delightful way of interacting with us. When you approached him with a bowl of his favorite fresh green beans or grain mix, he wouldn't rush greedily. Instead, he would tilt his head, look up with those long-lashed eyes, and give a subtle, affectionate nudge. Watching him eat or neatly sip water from his silver bucket became a therapeutic routine for me. He had a calm dignity about him, a sense of peace that he shared with anyone who stood by his side.
The Sacred Farewell: A Dramatic Twist of Fate
In the nights leading up to Eid, the atmosphere felt charged with a bittersweet solemnity. It was as if Yumn, in his infinite, quiet wisdom, understood the grander purpose of his existence. There is a beautiful fiction we like to believe—that the purest souls know when they are part of something larger than themselves.
On his final evening, the wind seemed to whisper softly through the pen. Yumn stood tall, his white coat catching the moonlight, looking less like an animal and more like a creature of myth. I sat beside him, running my fingers through his soft coat and untying his pink collar one last time. He didn't pull away. Instead, he leaned his heavy head gently against my shoulder, letting out a soft, sigh-like breath. It was a moment of profound, silent communication—a thank you, and a goodbye.
Living On in the Heart
Performing Qurbani is never easy when you have poured your heart into raising an animal with love. But the pain of parting is balanced by the honor of offering something truly beautiful, flawless, and deeply loved.
Yumn, your name means blessing, and that is exactly what you were to us. You brought light, elegance, and a gentle reminder of the beauty of sacrifice into our lives. You are gone from our sight, but your elegant stance, your soft eyes, and your beautiful soul are etched into our hearts forever.
