Life in Lockdown

Lockdown changed many things in life… and strangely, it also introduced me to an entirely new world — the world of “Bakrebazi” on YouTube. 🐐📺 Sitting at home during WFH days, I started watching vloggers and breeders who showcased premium goat breeds, farm visits, mandi experiences, and qurbani preparations from across India. From the legendary Deonar market videos to the massive Palai farms near Padgha like JD and MD… from breed discussions to feeding routines… it slowly became more than just content for me. It felt like reconnecting with a forgotten part of my childhood. Creators like FSA and Asim took this passion pan-India, educating people about different bakra breeds, bloodlines, care, and the culture around qurbani animals. Somewhere in between all those videos, I realized this wasn’t just a hobby — it was something deeply connected to my roots and emotions. The following year, once again, I got my bakra through my friend Arfat Farid, who by then had also made good progress in this field. And honestly, seeing someone turn honest passion into work felt inspiring too. 🤍 This time the bakra was different. More like a Malwa-type breed — white body with a light brownish face, soft features, and once again… completely without horns. Somehow I’ve always been emotionally drawn towards bakras that are mostly white, andul-mundal, calm looking, and innocent in appearance. Just something about them brings peace to the heart. And once again, I followed the same beautiful routine — daily visits, feeding by hand, spending quiet time near the animal, talking to it, caring for it before qurbani. As Allah mentions in the Quran, and as many hadees of our Prophet ﷺ beautifully remind us, livestock and goat farming carry barakah, simplicity, and a special kind of sukoon in life. Maybe that is why even in today’s fast digital world… spending time with a simple bakra during those days brought more peace to my heart than many modern luxuries ever could. 🌙✨
